This article discusses many valuable points that many people I’m sure do not think about when posting pictures to the Internet. When people capture moments in pictures and post them to the Internet, their main goal, is to share them with their loved ones and friends. This seems like a wonderful idea and a valuable tool, however, many people neglect to think of the ramifications of making said photo public (such as anyone in the world can see that picture and do what they please with it). I was unaware of the path these photos could take and the impact that they could have on one’s future. The article discusses face recognition technology, which can recognize you as you grow and could some day be used to incriminate you. I don’t think the parents who post these “innocent” pictures of their children know the kind of information they are unleashing into the world such as how easily their location can be traced. The television show Catfish demonstrates some of what can be done by just normal people, imagine when computer literate people step in. The reality is that once you put that picture out there, it can land in the hands of anyone and the possibilities are endless.
